You have the opportunity to make a profound impact by investing in the area you care about most.

Where Your Money Goes

You can designate your gift to many areas. Our giving options are flexible to meet your needs: pledge your gift over a year, multiple years, or among multiple areas of support to ensure it makes a lasting impact with the following approaches:

Lifetime Gifts

Gift planning is a way to align your family's financial and philanthropic goals, and enable you to make a more significant contribution than you thought possible to Peninsula Symphony.

A planned gift allows you to maximize the impact of your contribution. With tax planning in place, you may be able to increase the net contribution amount by minimizing income and estate taxes. When put together with a gifting strategy, you may be able to reduce the transfer cost basis while you are living. A more sophisticated strategy allows you to receive an income stream during your lifetime, while transferring the appreciated remainder interest to a charity of your choice.

Cash gifts are the simplest method of lifetime giving and may be fully deducted for federal income tax purposes up to 100 percent of your adjusted gross income, based on the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act. You may have appreciated securities in 2020. Gifts of appreciated securities can save income tax and avoid capital gains tax that would be imposed if you sold the securities yourself. The actual impact of such a gift on your personal taxes should be reviewed with your tax adviser.

We greatly appreciate your consideration to include PSO in your gifting strategy. Your gifts would allow us to continue to build a legacy of music in our Bay Area community. Tax planning can maximize the impact of your lifetime giving. If you have any questions or would like to pursue a lifetime or legacy gift, please contact Executive Director Chelsea Chambers, chelsea@peninsulasymphony.org. You have access to a qualified professional who could answer any of your questions about tax incentives such as the CARES Act as well as lifetime and legacy giving strategies.
